R.I.P. Stephen Hillenburg (1961 - 2018).

SpongeBob Squarepants has to be one of my favourite cartoons in its category, if not of all time. Or at least the earlier seasons. I really loved the show as a kid, but I eventually kind of got bored of it (mostly because of reruns). But looking back, I like how the show appeals to both the young and old. Slapstick for the younger ones, and verbal humour for the older ones (it doesn't have to be dirty humour, wordplay and wits also count for this one).

Yuno and Madoka Kaname Drawings

Sources: Hidamari Sketch, Madoka Magica

Original artist: Aoki Ume

Yuno's (the girl on the left) eyes could be a bit lower. And Madoka looks a bit rough, but I guess it's because I got a bit lazy after drawing Yuno.

Yuno and Akari Akaza Nendoroid Drawings

Sources: Hidamari Sketch, Yuru Yuri

Yeah, it's a little rough. Especially Miyako (the girl on the left), but that's because she's the one I drew earlier.

"External and Internal Pain"

For this post, let's say that there are two kinds of pain. Physical and emotional. Physical pain helps us in keeping ourselves safe. It's our body's way in telling us that the source of the pain is harmful, and that we should stay away from it. From a biological point of view, this is important.

On the other hand, emotional pain only eats people up. It devours people. If differentiated from its physical counterpart, it seems very useless in my opinion. Sure, just a little bit is actually useful. Fear helps us avoid potential danger, and jealousy helps some of us keep the things we have (i.e. if someone tries to steal your beloved you might opt to stop that from happening). But I'm mostly talking about sadness, anger, jealousy, etc. Basically, what we consider "negative emotions." It just doesn't make sense to me.

Personally, if there was a way to reduce the ability to feel such emotions, then I'd take it. I know people believe in the "stars can't shine without darkness" mantra, which personally I don't really subscribe to. Like mentioned in the previous paragraph, I do believe that just a little bit makes some biological sense. That's why I've only said lessen and not completely remove. But in my case, this is just too much. Sadness in particular is such a problematic feeling. I just don't understand it. How does being able to feel too much of these negative emotions help us in the physical world? I don't want sound "speciest" to you but from my understanding dogs don't have depression (although I am aware that they could feel sadness). Why can't I be more like them?

Oh, and by the way this post is titled "External and Internal Pain" because those are the terms I was originally going to use. But they I've realized that physical pain could be internal in a different sense.

Yuno (Hidamari Sketch) and Madoka (Madoka Magica)

"According to a interview with Gen Urobuchi, the character Madoka was based on Yunocchi from Hidamari Sketch (An Aoki Ume creation), to the extent that he was prepared for seiyuu Asumi (Kana)-san (Yuno's seiyuu) to voice Madoka."

Oh.

OH.

O H !

Well, to be fair I've always drew a connection between the two characters and I've always found them similar, but I always draw connections between characters anyway. Like, I've even compared Akari Akaza and Nishizumi Miho (by varying leves) to each other and the two characters mentioned above. But I've never really thought of it that way. To be fair, the other characters in both Madoka Magica and Hidamari Sketch aren't really that comparable. Mami does look like Miyako, and same goes for Sayaka and Sae, but that's it. And yeah, maybe I shouldn't be surprised since Madoka Magica and Hidamari Sketch share the same character designer anyway.

The Tall Women of Anime

Made a "chart" with various tall, fictional women, lol. 'Cause why not?

Yeah, the people I chose is quite random. I mean, I tried picking ones in which they're one of the tallest female character in the show. So like, it's a bit relative.

I also limited my choice per series. I didn't really want to crowd the piece.

Since most of the sources have their height in metric, I used an online converter to obtain the equivalent values in imperial and rounded them off.

How to Solve Overpopulation

In my humble opinion, overpopulation could be solved if everybody is a homosexual. Yes, I know it sounds rather ridiculous, but think about it. Homosexuals normally can't reproduce. It's such an economical option.

By the way, I'm not gay. I prefer women. Lol.

The white text on black background is my addition. The rest of the image is not mine.

Literally Me

While I haven't watched a lot of Nichijou (but I plan to do so), I can say that this may be the reason why that anime kind of represents how I want my life to be along with Yuru Yuri, Hidamari Sketch, etc. Although I think Hidamari Sketch is the closest thing to the ideal life I want as of the moment.

The Proper Way to Celebrate International Women's Day

Happy International Women's Day, everyone! Even though I'm already a bit late.

Nothing says celebrating International Women's Day by embracing the matriarchy and gynosupremacy.
